Coming from a family of three girls, it was a monumental experience to marry off the first one. It took sixth months of planning... which for me, meant hours on the phone listening to talk of orange gerber daisies and days spent trying to pick out the best cobalt blue shoes.

I had high hopes for the wedding weekend. It is a treat for my family of five to be all together, so having all of our closest friends and family in one place celebrating Alysia and Doug made me very excited. We had cousin Peter and his adorable 2-year old Kirsten from Louisiana; Uncle Jack, Julie, Chay, and Hannah from Michigan; Kristin, my rehearsal dinner date coming up from Duke in NC; and countless other guests who all made the effort to attend Alysia and Doug's destination wedding in... Watkin's Glen, NY! I also love getting dressed up, and knew I was in for some tasty food.

As excited as I was, the wedding was even more wonderful than I could have imagined. I walked down the aisle with my beautiful orange bouquet and could not stop smiling. I was so happy to see everyone, and thrilled it wasn't raining. Then Alysia came down the aisle looking beautiful and Doug was crying. At that moment, I realized how happy they were to be marrying each other and it was very touching. Doug is a private guy, but I could see how much he loved her and I felt like I was on a little wedding-island and everything else in the world was standing still. It was incredible!
Kate and I gave a toast to Alysia and Doug which was really fun. There was a beautiful sunset at the reception and the curry spread was quite possibly the best thing I've ever eaten. Kirsten danced up a storm, Al Heckler gave a great toast, and it was really nice talking to Uncle Bucky, my grandfather's twin brother. We spent the next day relaxing at the lake with friends and family and couldn't have had a nicer time.
Congratulations to Alysia & Doug!
