I just saw the oldest clock in the Americas!

I am currently in internet cafe numero dos in Comayagua, Honduras. We are en route to Lago De Yojoa (a lake with great bird watching -- we are staying at a micro brewery) and stopped in this city on our way. Thank god that was our plan because I am feeling pretty sick at the moment, just carsickness I think. Getting here was beautiful but a little too hot and windy for my stomach.

Yesterday we visited a church in Tegucigalpa called Suyapa. They were having a celebration and the singing was beautiful. Then we went to a mountain town called Santa Lucia. Adam took Spanish classes there when he first arrived in Honduras. It was beautiful! We went at dusk so everyone was sitting outside and it was very tranquil. You can see the whole city and mountains stretch far into the distance because the city is perched up high. We found a little restaurant where we could sit on the patio watching the sun set.

Manuel´s friend Anna picked us up and then we went back to her house. She had a chaueffer (Adam and I thought it was a joke but then this guy actually drove us all... crazy...) and we hung out at her very beautiful house. Manuel loves nightclubs and seems to know everyone, and a club called Ego was reopening so we went there but we weren´t going back to his apartment so Anna and her gossip-girl-esque friends dressed me all up because apparently my tevas and tank top weren´t acceptable. It was funny! The club was really cool and we had a great time. We were on the ¨VIP¨ balcony and it cost $6 to get in but drinks were free. Adam says when we go to his farm on Tuesday I will have officially seen both sides of Honduras and the unequal distribution of wealth.

Today we stopped at a comador for some tortillas, beans, eggs, etc. and then hopped on a bus. Now, back to Comayagua. This city used to be the religious and political capital of Honduras and there is a beauitful church that was build in 1537. It has the oldest clock in the Americas on it and mountains in the background.

This is a great country and I´m excited that I still have a week here! The lake is pretty remote so I might not be writing again for a few days. Adios!
