I might move to Honduras.

I am hiding out in an air conditioned internet cafe, happy to have a break from the bugs. I am on Utila, an island of about 6,000 people who while away their time scuba diving and hanging out. Things are really laid back here and its a definite party town. Which means it was a perfect place to celebrate my 21st birthday! The bartender named a drink after me so people were ordering Molly's all night. Adam and I rang in my birthday and it was lots of fun.

Since I last wrote I have been to Adam's farm outside of El Progresso. Honduran farmers from all over the country go there to learn about sustainable farming practices. Adam basically showed me every plant and animal on the farm and it was really interesting to see all the tropical fruits growing and shake hands with the monkeys. Adam's host father is very progressive and does some awesome things. They also fed me really well and everyone was nice and welcoming.

I highlight of the trip was getting to Adam's farm because it was sweltering hot and we rode in a schoolbus about 45 minutes there. We got on the bus and it was pretty full but people kept piling in. Eventually it was so tight that I scrambled over seats and rode sitting on top of suitcase against the back of the bus. We estimated 80 people on that school bus -- definitely a cultural experience.

Then we once again headed North and went to the Jungle River Lodge outside of La Ceiba. We pulled up in a cab in the dark, unsure of what to expect. There was a kayak used as a sign marking the lodge and windy stairs that led to a wooden porch with a friendly bunch of people hanging out. The porch overlooked a river and mountains and large rocks -- it was awesome. Soon as we got there they pulled up chairs for us, made us dinner, and we spent the rest of the night all hanging out. The next day (yesterday - my birthday) we went white water rafting. I will post pictures at some point because we were with two navy guys who had waterproof cameras. It was a blast!

And now, after a salty bumpy ferry ride and night of birthday celebrations, here I am on a little island I didn't know existed until recently. Time to go find a hammock.
